Furnishing Lamps

Read our short guide to help you choose an impressive lamp or chandelier.
To get an overall idea of the intrinsic value of lighting in your environment.

How to choose a lamp or chandelier

When we buy a lamp we have to consider the effect we want to achieve and the use we will make of it. On the other hand, since it is a very decorative element, it is advisable to choose a model that goes in harmony with the rest of the lamps in the same room..

Furthermore, our lamps do not require any complex installation and are delivered with an extremely clear installation manual. In addition, our technical team is always available to resolve any doubts during installation. As long as we have enough space, we can put them wherever we want.

Parts of a lamp or chandelier

The elements that make up a standard lamp are:

Lampshade: At the top is the bulb. It can come in different forms such as a lampshade made of metal, fabric, wood or other materials, e.g. a glass lampshade.

Support: the structure of the lamp. It may consist of one or more pieces.

Base: the base of the lamp, depending on the type, is usually a fairly heavy component, especially in pendant, floor and chandelier lamps.

Of course, these types of lamps may include other elements, depending on their design, although all include these listed elements.

Types of lamp or chandelier

In our catalogue you can find a wide variety of lamps that we can group into five large blocks depending on their shape:

Floor lamps: These are usually the most common and, as the name suggests, are characterised by the straight shape of the stand as well as of the lamp body. Their shape allows them to be placed anywhere, even if space is limited.

Table lamps: similar to the previous ones, they differ in size and weight

Wall lamps or wall sconces: These models are very expressive and functional. From a design point of view, because they can be positioned in passing rooms and in repeated quantities. They are usually placed in a bedroom, but also and especially in a staircase or corridor where the light source serves to illuminate this area, even at night.

Pendant, ceiling or pendant lamps: These models are typical for a large area often used and where several people meet to discuss or work, such as a kitchen or living room.

Chandeliers: These models are very easy to recognise because the body of the lamp is extremely expressive, highly polished and productively complex. They are usually used in the most important rooms, entrances, common areas, living rooms, but also in the master bedroom and so that the light source serves to illuminate this area.

If we look at the type of light these lamps give off, we can have:

Indirect light: they emit light upwards so that it is reflected on the ceiling and walls and distributed throughout the space.

Reading light: there are two types of floor reading lamps, namely, those in which the light source is focused towards a specific point and those that include a secondary arm, usually flexible or articulated, where the light used for reading is placed.

Ambient light: The shade of these lamps is translucent, dimming and diffusing the light. They are perfect for decorating and creating a cosy atmosphere.

Where to place lamps or chandeliers

The best place to place a lamp will depend on its function and the distribution of the rest of the lighting elements as well as the furniture. Even so, there is good news, as they do not need any complex installation, they can be placed wherever they are really needed.

The most common use is to find them in the corner of the space in the case of upright or tripod lamps. Arc lamps are most commonly placed near sofas.

Which bulb is best for a lamp or chandelier

As always, when choosing a light bulb we have to think about the type of light we will need.

Obviously, since floor lamps are mainly used to decorate and create ambience in different areas, such as living rooms, dining rooms or bedrooms, it is more common to infer that warm light is used.

On the other hand, if we intend to use the floor lamp for reading or if it is a secondary light, it is better to use a cold light.

Designer lamps Made in Italy. Choose your style

Besides the functional value of a lamp, appearance is one of the most important purchasing factors. The styles that attract the most interest are:

Vintage: One of the most popular styles. Vintage floor lamps are great for adding a retro touch to any place. Combining them with filament bulbs is a safe bet.

Modern: Functional and elegant, modern floor lamps are characterised by straight lines and offer a sophisticated look.

Nordic: Undoubtedly one of the most popular styles in recent times. The main characteristics of Nordic floor lamps are their use of materials such as wood, their functionality and sense of comfort.
